Walter Cline Clawson, Jr., friend to all, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 14, 2024. 

Known to all of his friends and family as “Spike”, Mr. Clawson grew up in Key West, where he learned to deep sea fish and enjoy all marine life. He loved the saltwater and being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and would travel to Georgia to hunt. He moved to Americus, Georgia, with Betty and lived there for over 30 years. He never met a stranger and was friendly to everyone he met. Spike was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Clawson; children, Walter Clawson III (Deborah), Renee Wheeler (Brian), Charles Anthony (Joanie); grandchildren, Brianna Clawson, Emma Clawson, Christopher Merrill, Forrest Wheeler (Crissy), Chase Wheeler (Savannah), Tyler Anthony, Kaelyn Anthony, and Aubree Anthony; and 5 great grandchildren. Spike was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Ida Clawson; and sister, Dorene Crouse.  No services are scheduled at this time.

The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Clawson family.
