Virginia Mooneyham Touchstone

November 9, 1926 — February 3, 2025

Troy

Virginia Mooneyham Touchstone, age 98, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025. Graveside services will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Mallone Chandler officiating. The family requests all friends meet at the tent.

Virginia grew up in New Brockton, Alabama, and with her husband, Spurgeon Mooneyham, started a shoe shop in Brundidge but soon outgrew the space, so they moved the shop to downtown Troy on the square where they had a thriving business known as Mooneyham’s Shoes. After Mr. Mooneyham passed, she later married Jerry Touchstone and helped run Touchstone Shoe Repair. Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother, and an excellent cook! One could find her every Saturday night watching the Lawrence Welk Show on TV. She loved to read her Bible and was a devout Christian. She was a founding member of Riverview Church and helped the leaders name the church. She was very influential in our community and will be missed.

Loving survivors include her daughters, Elaine Pinckard (Kenny W.), Mary Ann Volet, Betty Gilland (John); son, William “Bill” Touchstone (Diana); grandchildren, Kelly Laine Pinckard, Chase Volet, Andy Gilland (Sherrie), Lowell Gilland (Miranda), Tim Gilland (Stephanie), Tracy Shillabeer (Todd), Dylan Touchstone, Zyan Touchstone, Will Touchstone; great grandchildren, Tiffany, Brittany, Jessica, Jonathon, Grady, Gage, Lottie, Noa, Vivienne, Spencer, and Parker; as well as several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Bessie Folsom, who adopted her upon the death of her mother, Ruth Barbaree Bell; and grandson, Mathew Touchstone.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to her devoted caretaker and good friend, Diana, for her kindness and compassion over the past few years. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Touchstone family.
