Thomas Brent Walker, Sr

Thomas Brent Walker, Sr., beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, after an extended illness. A memorial service will be at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Green Hills Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior.
Mr. Walker was born in Barbour County, but moved to Troy when he was a young boy.  He enlisted in the US Army National Guard when he was still in high school and finished at Charles Henderson High School in the class of 1963.  He went to Officer’s Candidate School and made a career of the Army National Guard and retired as a Major after serving more than 20 years.  Mr. Walker sold insurance for Liberty National Insurance Company until 1983, when he and a few colleagues opened the Troy branch for the Principle Financial Group.  He continued in sales there until he retired. 
 Thomas enjoyed a few hobbies such as bird hunting, riding ATVs, and playing golf.  His specialty was “wheelin’ and dealin’” in sports cars, and he loved finding a car in good condition.  He had several beloved lifelong friends and was loved by his family.  
Loving survivors include his children, Thomas “Brent” Walker, Jr. (Heather), Christi Walker Daniels (Hunky); grandchildren, Cassidy Stearns (Bart), Mary Griffin Capps, Grace Hixon Capps, and Emma Carter Daniels.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Eileen Williford Walker; his parents, Jack & Merle Walker; as well as many close friends.  
The family would like to extend their gratitude to his caregivers, Susie, Cathy, Mary, and Shonda, but especially to his “right-hand man”, Clemmie Seymore, who helped Mr. Walker day and night.  Thank you for your kindness and support during this time.
