Syblene Benton

Syblene Benton, age 69, of Troy, Alabama, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 15, 2012, at Troy Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012, at the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Pastors Bobby and Patty Stone officiating. Visitation will be at Green Hills Funeral Home Sunday, June 17, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Mrs. Benton was a member of the University Church of God in Troy, Alabama, and a faithful employee of the Brundidge Piggly Wiggly for more than 11 years. She was an avid gardener and lover of the outdoors.

Mrs. Benton is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jerry Benton; one son, Jerry Benton, Jr. (Pam) of Troy; one daughter, Stacy McLendon (David) of Troy; two step-daughters, Jennifer Wagner (David)  of Florence, Mississippi, and Beth Herndon (Joe) of Gulfport, Mississippi; three brothers, Douglas Hughes (Nina), Drexel Hughes (Brenda) and Marion Hughes (Martha); seven sisters, Johnnie Johnson (Junior), Ruby Johnson (Donald), Edna Johnson (Billy), Carolyn Gulledge, Sharon DeVaney (Billy), Ruby Hutchinson (Randy) and Lisa Jordan (Mark); and nine grandchildren, Mallory, Kathryn and Anna Herndon, Jessica and Wesley Wagner, Trey, Kaylyn and Kaycee Benton, and Raylee McLendon.

She was preceded in death by her parents Golden and Ida Mae Hughes, and two brothers, Charles and Selma Hughes.

Pallbearers are nephews Eric Hughes, Shannon Hughes, Tye Hughes, Terry Wayne Hughes, Mark Johnson and Blake Hutchinson.
