Shirley Brooks

Shirley W. Brooks, age 61, of Troy, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at her residence.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Steve Rasco and Rev. Calvin Faircloth officiating and Green Hills Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brooks was a member of Park Memorial United Methodist Church.  She attended Troy University where she received her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and graduated Magnum Cum Laude.  She taught kindergarten at Zion Chapel Elementary School for more than 20 years.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Dora Ann Wilcox and brother-in-law, Kelsey Lee Wilcox.  She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Peter Brooks; Mother, Janie Wilkinson; son, Jody C. Brooks; daughter-in-law, Tammy M. Brooks, brothers, Jerry Wilkerson (Bessie), Carlie “Bune” Wilkinson; grandchildren, Jacob Brooks, Jonah Brooks;  special nephew, Richard Wilcox (Jodi) as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Adam Wilkerson, David Wellman, Phillip Wilkinson, Jeffrey Wilkinson, Tim Autrey and Robert Edwards.  Donations may be made to Hospice Advantage.
