Sarah Stephenson

Sarah Owens Stephenson, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the age of 82.  Visitation will be at 1:00pm on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Green Hills Funeral Home with a Chapel Service at 2:00pm.  Rev. Scotty Wallace and Rev. Rick Hayes officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Faith Hill Cemetery near Rutledge with Andy Whitaker, Jeff Andrews, Stevie Stephenson, Nick Nyberg, Troy Green, and Chip Vice serving as pallbearers.

As a Baptist minister’s wife for over 30 years, Mrs. Stephenson was a loving spirit who was full of life and was a treasure beside her husband.  You could find her in the kitchen stirring up a pan of hot biscuits or out in her garden tending to her assortment of flowers.  She cared for people and never met a stranger. She loved children and retired from the Pike County Board of Education Child Nutrition Program as the regional manager. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

Loving survivors include her daughters, Sheila Drew (Randy) and Tina Whitaker (Andy); her grandson, Trey Whitaker (Haley); and her sister, Shirley Green (Jimmy).  She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Billy Franklin Stephenson; parents, Jetter & Leona Owens; and daughter, Tammy Lynn.
