Sammye Redmond Fowler, age 73, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, after an extended illness. At her request, no services are planned. Sammye graduated from Charles Henderson High School. She went on to work for and eventually retired from the City of Montgomery. Her favorite job was driving the train at the Montgomery Zoo, while giving impromptu bits of information about the animals and their habitats. She loved her family, enjoyed cooking, and was very passionate about the Wounded Warrior Project. She was loved by all who knew her.
Loving survivors include her children, Julie Mims (John), Daniel Olive (Tara); grandchildren, John Inman Mims, Jemma Mims, Paul Olive; and her sisters, Nora Stephens (Jack) and Cathy McKinney. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lewis & Glennie May Fowler.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation to The Wounded Warrior Project, the Belser Cemetery, c/o 4957 Huffman Rd Grady AL 36036, or do a random act of kindness. Hug your family, tell them you love them, for tomorrow is not promised.
