Sammie Edwin Williams, Sr., age 84, of Brundidge, Ala., died Thursday, March 3, 2011, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Military graveside services for Mr. Williams will be Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 2 p.m., at the Green Hills Memorial Park Veterans Plaza in Troy, Ala.
Mr. Williams served in the United States Army as a staff sergeant with the 752nd tank battalion during World War II. Afterwards, he dedicated 27 years of his life to the life insurance industry.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife Jean Williams, two sons; Michael Williams (Mary Beth) and Sam Williams, Jr. (Sheila); one sister, Doris Williams Johnson; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kay Jeannette Krogue; his parents, Leonard Leon and Jeannette Mims Williams; and one sister, Mary Frances Duenke.
The family requests that donations be made in his honor to The Paralyzed Vets of America or The Hospitalized Vets of America.
