Retired Master Sergeant, Robert LaEarl Wilkerson, age 79, of Troy, Alabama, died Tuesday September 8, 2015. Master Sergeant Wilkerson proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 23 years. He is a Vietnam Veteran and also served in Korea shortly after the Korean Conflict. He then was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base where he served his remaining years in supply, reaching his final rank of Master Sergeant. He continued working at Maxwell after his military ...retirement as a civil service employee. Living most of his life in Montgomery, he moved to Troy six years ago and made his home. A celebration of his life will be held in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 12, 2015, with Rev. Floyd Carmack officiating with music provided by Amanda Benton Smothers, a close family friend. Full Military Honors will be held following the service with the Maxwell Air Force Base Honor Guard providing the detail. Visitation will be held from 2-3 PM prior to the service at Green Hills Funeral Home.He is survived by three loving daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Phillip Barron of Troy, Teri and Michael Keene of Columbus, Georgia, and Tammy and Greg Brown of Elleaville, Georgia; also his grandchildren, Leslie Blazer, Savannah Blazer, Chad Keene and Kyle Keene, Joshua Brown and Faith Brown; his brothers, John Wilkerson of Jemison, Alabama, and Mack Wilkerson of Selma, Alabama; and his sister, Sadie Rowe of Eclectic, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mattie Wilkerson and several brothers.
