Norman Lamar Tate, a resident of the Ebenezer community outside Troy, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the age of 59. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Knick officiating. Burial will follow at Old Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with Jeff Tate, Luke Tate, Seth Tate, Joel Tate, Brady Sanders, and John Witherington serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Green Hills Funeral Home.
A resident of the Pike County area, Lamar grew up in the Ebenezer community and attended Pike Liberal Arts School. He went on to attend LB Wallace community college in Andalusia. He worked for the Alabama State Department of Transportation in the Design Bureau. He worked out in the field as a surveyor and then inside creating maps. Lamar loved riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Lamar will be missed by all who knew him.
Loving survivors include his mother, Mary Frances Ming Tate; his brother, Jeff Tate (Ashley); nephews, Luke Tate (Mattie), Seth Tate (Bailey), Joel Tate; great nephew, Matthew Deets Tate; great niece, Ann Jackson Tate; as well as several aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Tate.
