Mrs. Mildred Jackson Flowers, age 94, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, August 28, 2011. She had been a resident at Camden Nursing Facility in Camden, Alabama, for five months prior to her death.
Mrs. Flowers was born August 22, 1917, in the Linwood Community of Pike County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Henry Andrew Jackson and Leona Adams Jackson.
Mrs. Flowers lived most of her life in Troy, Alabama. She and her husband moved to Camden, Alabama, in 1987 to be close to one of her children. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Flowers was also a proud member of Southside Baptist Church in Troy.
Mrs. Flowers married Woodrow Wilson Flowers in 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters and their spouses. Mrs. Flowers is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Deloris Flowers Perkins (Charles) of Smyrna, Georgia, and Donna Flowers McLeod (Donny) of Camden, Alabama; three grandchildren, Charles W. Rowell (Julie) of Prattville, Alabama, Daphne McLeod Malone (William) of Camden, Alabama, and Ashley McLeod Turner (John) of Birmingham, Alabama; six great-grandchildren, Ansley Rowell, Alexander and Andrew Malone, and Sinclair, John, and Ann McLeod Turner. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families that she loved dearly.
Graveside service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park, Troy, Alabama, Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Services officiated by Reverend Bo Weed. Pallbearers include: William Malone, John Turner, Joe Murphy, Walter Murphy, Hank Jones and Jimmy Newman. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.
