Michael “Mike” J. Reeves, age 64, of Elba, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of his life will be Sunday, September 11, 2016, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverends David Richburg, Mike Medley, and Diana Farrell White officiating. Mike was a local legend, known for his singing, songwriting, and guitar-picking talents. He and his brother were 25-year co-owners of the Double Branch Bar “aka Twin Twigs” in Troy, where they laid the platform for many talented musicians to launch their careers. He walked a path with the Lord, sharing his testimony through worship, music, and praise. He loved his family, who will forever remember him as “the sweetest man with the sweetest soul.” Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Maxwell A. Reeves, Sr. and Evelyn Johnson Reeves; and nephew, Trace Reeves. He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Brown Reeves of Elba; son, Jason Michael Reeves of Brundidge; stepchildren, Chasity (Andrae) Medley of New Brockton, and Mandy (Mike) Waters of Newton; brother, Max (Sally) Reeves of Troy; nieces, Gina Bryson of New Jersey, Debi Lambert of Kentucky, and Barbara (Gary) Burdick of Troy; step-grandchildren, Montana and Hunter Savage, Julianna and Riley McCollough, and Jacob and Davis Waters; and, his sweet dog, Molly.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society-Coffee County (3054 McGehee Road Montgomery, AL 36111).
