Michael Ray Hughes

Michael Ray Hughes, age 53 of Troy, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Green Hills Funeral Home in Troy, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Brian McLendon officiating.  Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Ernsberger, Ryan Nelson, Lee Barnes, Austin Turner, Brandon Hicks and Tyler Finnegan.

Michael was born in Fort Walton Beach, FL.  He played baseball from high school through college at L.B.W. Jr. College and Troy University.  He had a great love for the water, deep sea fishing, boating, jet skiing and floating down the river.  He loved dogs and sitting on the porch listening to music.  He was an avid Bama fan and you could hear him yell “Roll Tide!” Michael was very big into Nascar, could holler “Go Dega”, and went to the Talladega Speedway as often as he could.  He served one year with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Dept. in Florida and retired as Corporal with the Troy Police Department where he served for 25 years. 

Mr. Hughes is survived by his son, Grant Michael Hughes; three daughters, Haley Hughes Harrell (Steven), Holly Hughes and Hanna Hughes Wambles (Corey); one grandchild, Hadley Harrell; his mother, Linda Hughes-Hough, and one sister, Michele Hughes Finnegan.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanne Scott Hughes, and father, Hinson Ray Hughes.  Memorial donations may be made to the FOP Funds with the Troy Police Dept. (334-566-0500), for Chief Randall Barr.  The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hughes family.
