Melvin Wright

Melvin Wright passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the age of 72.  A graveside service will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.  The family requests friends to meet at the cemetery. 

After over 40 years, Melvin retired as a supervisor from Wiley Sanders Truck Lines.  He loved his family and was always available to  lend a helping hand.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing on his pond and could build most anything.  Melvin was always ready to fellowship with his church friends and family.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Loving survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary S. Wright; sons, Rodney L. Wright, Gary D. Wright, Keith A. Wright; daughters, Felicia M. Wright, Jennifer D. Wright, Tiffany R. Wright; grandson, Jabareei M. Wright; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Cornelia Jimmy Woods, Annie Mae Lewis; brother, Samuel Wright; brother-in-law, Edgar Carter; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Walter Wright; mother, Annie Pearl Whiteside Wright; grandson, Jacoby Joshua Wright; brothers, Walter Dooney Wright, Jim Downey; and several sisters, Viola Wright, Elnora Wright, Ethel Hodges, and Lillie Ruth Carter. 

The family would like to extend a word of gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Encompass Hospice as well as those caring for him from Alexander City.
