Melissa Johnson

Melissa Sanford Johnson, a native of the Troy area, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the age of 60.  Visitation will be at 1:00pm on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Green Hills Funeral Home with a graveside service at 2:00pm at Green Hills Cemetery.  Rev. Danny Arnold officiating.

An avid outdoorswoman, Melissa loved fishing and riding horses.  As a loving mother and grandmother, she spent countless hours on the ballfield with her boys. One could also find her cheering for the Troy Trojans or yelling War Eagle!! She was always friendly and never met a stranger.  She enjoyed her job at Kimber in the quality control department. Valuable time with her family was her priority and she loved them with all her heart.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Loving survivors include her husband, Chuck Johnson; her sons, Jacob Ballard (Lauren), Daniel Ballard (Brittany); her mother, Cornelia Sanford; stepsons, Joseph Johnson, Michael Johnson, Matt Johnson; grandchildren, Ella, Ava Collins and Logan Ballard; siblings, Kathy Brunson (Bill), Denny Sanford (Jill), Denise Kelley (Doug), Julie Rockett (John),as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Shannon Ballard, and her father, William D. Sanford.
