Mary "Ann" Grier, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, died Saturday, August 23, 2014. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverends W.O. Sanders and Frank Lowery officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Luther Messick, Bryant Brown, Herman Jordan, Ricky Grant, Steve Carson, and John A. Carr. Graveside services will follow at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
Mrs. Grier was employed with the Luverne Health and Rehab for 17 years as the activities coordinator. She also exercised her passion for writing as a regular columnist for the Luverne Journal in which she contributed the Senior Living articles and as novelist with her own story in the works. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernie and Margie Atchison; daughter, Deborah Smith; son, Patrick Nichols; and sister, Audrey Smedley. Mrs. Grier is survived by her husband, Jimmy Grier; son, Ryan Nichols (Paige); daughter, Caren Lanier (Buddy); four grandchildren, Brittany Nichols, Lakin Lanier, Catelyn Lanier, and Hunter Lanier; two sisters, Fran Regan and Susie Beardsley; and one brother, Robert Atchison.
