Mark Miley

Mark Steven Miley, age 61, of Goshen, Alabama, passed away at his home on Friday, April 10, 2020. A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2020, at Providence Cemetery. The Goshen Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Lester, Anderson Roberts, Zane Shaver, Heath Swanzy, Brack Swanzy, Chad Sanders, Justin Sanders, Gavin Sanders, Taylor Renfroe, Dallis Bellamey, Conner Peckinpaugh, Colton Miley, Cason Miley, Travis Meeks, and Mike Crout. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a later date.

Mark is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rhonda Miley; daughters, Peyton Taylor (Dusty) and Kelly Downing (Jeremy Kyle); god-daughter, Celiese Swanzy McDougald (Clay); grandchildren, Miley Matalene Taylor, Ella- Kate Tomlin, A.J. Tomlin, Alayna Downing, and Charli McDougald; father, Donald Miley; sisters, Donna Renfroe (John) and Dana Peckinpaugh (Scott); brother, Chris Miley (Jennifer); sister-in-law, Denise Walden (Stevie); a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his beloved dogs, cats, and farm animals. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Sara Matalene Miley; brother, Royce Miley; and niece, Gin Miley.

Mark was an active member of the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department since 1988 and has served as fire chief for 25 years. Mark’s passion was firefighting, and he devoted his life to serving the community he loved. Mark believed whole heartedly that friends are the family you make for yourself, and he felt like he had built himself a beautiful family. Mark loved big and worked hard at everything he did. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his world.
