Mark Dean Hartley, age 58, of Troy, Alabama, and formerly of Lakeland, Florida, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020, following a brief illness. A celebration of his life will be held with family at a later date in Lakeland, Florida.
Mark enjoyed exploring and treasure hunting. He was a graduate of the Lakeland High School Class of 1980 and a member of the Parkview Baptist Church in Lakeland. After his time there, he ventured to Vero Beach, Florida, where he managed the Sopranos sandwich shop. A little more than six years ago, he made his way to Troy, where he engulfed in his passion for hunting and fishing with his Dad and brothers and continued to work in the family flooring business. Recently, he penned his thoughts that best illustrate his journey: “To be content with who you are, don’t look to your right or left or to your idol, boss, brother, etc., etc. Stay in your lane and look straight ahead and look for the lane God has created for you. Love and be able to step in to the unknown. You don’t have to work for the grace of God. We stand in your Presence. It’s not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.”
Mark is survived by his parents, Jack Turner and Mary Lou Christjansen Hartley; son, William Sligh Hartley; siblings, Scott Hartley (Lana), Cindy Hartley Ross (Dennis), and Todd Steven Hartley (Beverly); nieces and nephews, Daniel Hartley (Alicia), Rebecca Dennison (Joey), Chase Hartley, Shane Ross (Haley), Travis Ross, Brandi Moore (Donny), John Seymour (Lauren), and Trever Hartley; his companion of many years, Kelly Zimmerman; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved dog, Belle.
