Marilyn Burks Phillips, age 87, died Monday, November 4, 2013 at Troy Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Bob Sandifer officiating and Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Phillips taught English at Pike County High School for more than thirty years and was a member of the NEA and AEA. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Elizabeth Phillips Gorman; grandsons, Bartley Nathaniel Gorman (Paula), Ryan Paul Gorman; great grandchildren, Elijah Patrick, Elissa Brown, Evan Gorman and Blake Gorman; nephews, Brian Cuthbertson and Wayne Cuthbertson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Johnson, Jack Brunson, Bill Allen and Brian Cuthbertson. Family and friends can sign the guest book at greenhillsfuneralhome.net. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Phillips family.
