Mr. Lockard Benton Morgan, age 90, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 in Lakeland, Fla. A graveside service for Mr. Morgan will be
Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Ebenezer Cemetery with Rev. Ellis Bush officiating. Green Hills Funeral Home
directing. The Morgan family will leave in procession from Green Hills Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2010.
Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his daughter; Julia Lea Morgan. He is survived by daughters; Cynthia Dunn and Nita Leslie,
his best friend of many years; Martha Fabian, grandchildren; Ron, Cynthia, Alicia, Brad and Jeffrey, and great grandchildren; Cole,
Isabella, Hunter, Taylor, Parker, Jay Spencer and Ford.
Born July 7, 1919 in Linwood, Alabama, Mr. Morgan moved to Lakeland in 1964 from Birmingham, Alabama. He retired from the
U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he was employed as a market news reporter. He was an honorably discharged veteran
of the Army National Guard, where he served in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Morgan was a Baptist.
He was a founding member of Lone Palm Golf and Country Club. He was an avid golfer and shot a 75 when he was 75, but the
real passion of his life was gardening.
