Mr. Kirby J. Jordan, Jr., age 75, of Troy, Alabama, died Monday, October 17, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Jordan are Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home. A private family graveside will follow at St. John’s Cemetery with Mr. Jordan’s nephew, Greg McGhee officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 18, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Mr. Jordan was a longtime member of Bush Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from the Highway Department after 38 years of service. Mr. Jordan was called to serve in the Berlin Crisis and served with the Air National Guard for 39 years. He devoted more than 50 years of his time as an AA member and sponsor earning his 50 year medallion. Mr. Jordan was also an avid coin and gun collector.
Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Jordan. He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Jordan; daughter, Betsy Baker (Norm); three grandchildren, Jennifer Jordan, Chelsea Baker and Rhodes Baker; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Abbigail Gilbert.
Pallbearers will be Russ Harris, Rod McWhorter, Paul Howell, Greg Sessoms, Justin McGhee and Charles Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be members of AA.
