Kenneth Carter

Kenneth Melton Carter, affectionately referred to as Superman, Dad, Big and Coach fought a courageous battle, and on November 18, 2014, gained the best seat life has to offer. He believed. He received. He has gone to his eternal home. Kenneth was 55 years old and had already left an inspiring story for those who will always cherish him.  He was an accomplished athlete, devoting his college career to the Troy State University baseball team under the helm of the famous coach, Chase Riddle. He was a devoted cheer and softball dad, always active and supportive of his girls' endeavors. He lived to love─his family, his friends, hunting and fishing, an afternoon beside a Big Green Egg Grill, the power of a remote control, and his faithful Boston Terrier sidekicks "Belle" and "Lulu." Though his house was divided, Kenneth was the proudest, and lone, Alabama fan at the Carter residence. Kenneth said he witnessed two miracles in his life: the birth of the "sunshine of his world," Emma and his stem cell transplant made possible by his donor, his daughter Kasee. He may not have known it, but his lifetime and memory will be a miracle to all who knew him.
A celebration of Kenneth's life will be Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. on a wooded ridge in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Minister Richard Henderson and Rev. Kevin Beck sharing heartfelt testaments of Kenneth's journey, past and present. His nephews Chris Beck, Kevin Beck, Cole Mitchell, Matt Kendrick, Josh Kendrick and Jim Davis will stand beside him as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of the 7th Division of the Alabama Department of Transportation. The family will receive friends and share memories Friday, November 21, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Kenneth is welcomed in Heaven by his grandparents; his father, Asa Melton Carter; and five grandchildren. Left to carry on his legacy is his wife, Deedie Hobbs Carter; his daughters and sons, Andrea and Allen Maness and Kasee and Hunter Mann; granddaughter, Emma Maness; mother, Betty Williford Carter; sisters, Deborah (Douglas) Beck and Elizabeth (John Wiley) Mitchell; and numerous relatives and close friends.
