John Kent Sr.

John Hubbard Kent Sr., Age 70 of Troy died Friday, September29, 2017 in Troy.   John was a loving husband to his wife of 48 years Peggy Kent and the best father and grandfather that anyone could ask for. John loved his church, the Gideon's of which he was a member for over 20 years. He was dedicated to spreading the word of God to anyone he met. John was also a United States Marine having served in Vietnam .

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 1, 2017 from the Hephzibah Baptist Church at 3:00 PM with Reverend Rick Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Hephzibah Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include, wife, Peggy Kent, daughter and son in law, Sandy Forshey (John) DuBose, son and daughter in law, John H. (Tina) Kent Jr., grandchildren, Cole Forshey, Abby Forshey, JT DuBose, AnnaBelle DuBose, Trey Kent, Will Kent, Taylor Grace Kent,Mandy Daniels, Cody Daniels, brother, James O.(Peggy Joyce) Kent, several nieces and nephews, John was preceded in death by his parents, John Earl Kent and Annie Laura Kent, , sister, Lila Kent and a brother Danny Kent.

Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons of Hephzibah Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pike County Gideons.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Pike County Gideons, or to Hephzibah Baptist Church.

The staff of Green Hills is honored to serve the Kent family.
