James L. "Jimmie" Tate, age 69, a lifetime resident of Ebenezer, Alabama, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Knick officiating. Graveside services will follow in Old Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, August 14, 2014, one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Tate is fondly remembered as a "jack-of-all-trades" with a special interest in hot rod cars, race cars and paint and body work. He cherished spending quality time with his grandchildren, and he treasured mornings and afternoons at his favorite fishing holes. Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his parents, James and Norma Morgan Tate; brother, Ed Austin; and sister, Dorthine Hallford. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Frances Tate; two sons, Lamar Tate and Jeff Tate (Ashley); three grandchildren, Luke, Seth and Joel Tate; sister, Yvonne Armstrong of Abbeville, Alabama.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
