Jerry F. Vinson

Jerry F. Vinson, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023.  Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with a reception following the service.  Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.  Rev. Mallone Chandler officiating.
A native of Barbour County, Jerry was proud of his family and his home, and boasted it was “the center of the universe” and the “county of the governors.”  When he was a teenager, the Vinson family moved to Troy and opened Vinson’s Massey Ferguson Tractor Company which served the area farmers for over 35 years. He graduated from Auburn University with two degrees.  
Jerry loved people and could talk to anyone.  He was all about having a good time and was generous with his time and money.  He loved to help others and donated to many political and charitable causes, such as Pike Pioneer Museum, Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, several party politicians, as well as his local church and the “down and out.” Jerry was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Loving survivors include his wife of 34 years, Amy R. Vinson, many stepchildren and step grandchildren whom he loved dearly.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah S. Vinson; parents, Mary & Frank Vinson; and stepson, Jack Corbitt.
