Jerry Franklin Tillery, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023. Graveside services will be at 2:00pm on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Hunter Pugh officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at Green Hills Funeral Home.
A hardworking man, Mr. Tillery was well- known in town because he has worked at the local hardware company for over 35 years. He began his career in 1973 at the Henderson Hardware Store on Brundidge Street. It has changed names several times and he was always the helpful salesman who enjoyed meeting folks. Know as “Pops” to his grandchildren who adored him, he grew up in Troy and graduated from Goshen High School. He went to school in Ozark and worked at Fort Rucker for a while before returning to Troy and beginning his work at the hardware store. His family noted he loved to start projects but rarely finished one. He was an avid Alabama football fan and spent any extra time with his grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Loving survivors include his wife of 51 years, Maurice Green Tillery; daughter, Hope Boyd (Bo); grandchildren, Dow Boyd, Lillian Boyd, Tillery Boyd, and Martin Ellis Boyd; as well as his siblings, Johnny Tillery (Lynn), Alice Henderson, Judy Tillery, Jimmy Tillery (Petie); brother-in-law, Charles Green, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Martha Tillery; his brother, George Tillery; and mother-in-law, Lillian Green.
The family would like to extend a word of thanks to the staff of Montgomery Cancer Center, Dr. Barnes, and nurse practitioner, Ashton; as well as his caregivers, Carrie Baker, Sherri Shackleford and the staff of CenterWell Home Health.
