Jerry Benton

Jerry Ray Benton, Sr. age 76, of Troy died Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at his home. Jerry was born June 20, 1942 to the late Clyde and Louise Grissette Benton. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Syblene Benton and a son-in-law, David Wagner. Jerry graduated from Pike County High School. He was a  hard working man of few words. He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverend Matt Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Green Hills Funeral Home.

His survivors include; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Pam Benton Jr., daughters and sons-in-law, Stacy and David McLendon, Beth and Joe Herndon and Jennifer Wagner, his sister, Faye Castleberry, special friend, Bertie Davenport, his grandchildren, Trey Benton, Kaylyn Benton, Kaycee Benton, Raylee McLendon, Mallory (Jeff) Ramsey, Anna (Steven) Covington, Katherine Herndon, Wesley (Katharine) Wagner and Jessica Wagner, his great grandson, Benton Ramsey.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Hughes, Drexel Wayne Hughes, Shannon Hughes, Terry Wayne Hughes, Tye Hughes, Chad Hughes, Blake Hutchinson and Collin Jordan.
