Jeffry “Jeff” George Taylor passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, after a brief illness. He was 72 years of age.
Jeff was born on April 7, 1950, in Racine, Wisconsin. He attended Troy State University and was a proud member of the Sound of the South band. Jeff then served 25 years as the dedicated light and sound designer for his beloved Troy University. In retirement, Jeff partnered with his son, Chase, to fulfill his lifelong dream of opening a movie theatre: Continental Cinemas. Before he brought the house lights down for the last time this week, Jeff had the honor of entertaining over 5 million people. Among his many hobbies and passions were music, movies, model trains, and ice cream with his grandchildren.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, George Chase Taylor and Beverly Simonsen Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Claire Crawley Taylor; children, Carrie Victoria Taylor Manning and Chase Adair Taylor (Joanna); grandchildren, Taylor Kennedy Manning, Seth Thomas Manning, Claire-Ann Victoria Manning, Abigail Grace Taylor, and Sarah Catherine Taylor; sister, Laurie Ann Taylor; nephew, Wesley James Saway (Emily); and great-niece, Alyson Rose Saway. He is so dearly loved by his family, and his legacy will be carried on through them.
This Saturday, July 2nd, the family will receive friends in the parish hall of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 401 West College Street in Troy at 1:30 pm with the service to follow at 3:00 pm and interment at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
