Jerri is survived by her children, Royce Emerson (Elizabeth) of Birmingham and Carla Oswald (Jason) of Troy; grandchildren, Cassidy Oswald Wiggins, Grayson Emerson Davis (Ian), Cole Oswald, Gray Oswald, Helen Kate Emerson; and great grandchildren, Crystal Wiggins, Wylder Wiggins. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 51 years, William Emerson; brother, Jeff Halderman; and parents Jared and Dorothy Halderman.
Jerri was born on January 29, 1943, in Celina, Ohio. She attended Kent State University and Wright State University receiving a degree in Special Education and a master’s degree in psychology. She moved to Montgomery to work at a school for children with special needs. Her greatest passion through the years was being a loving wife, mother, and Nana and she was privileged to be a stay-at-home mom. Jerri had a love and passion for many things over the years. She was an avid reader and lover of Bridge and gained amazing friendships through playing cards over the years.
Jerri and her husband created a lifelong memory spot at Lake Martin for the whole family to enjoy that forged bonds that can’t be replaced. She was known for her “free therapy sessions” to anyone that loved her. Later in life she helped care for her 2 great grands with Jason and Carla who were honored to have her in their home until the very end.
The family will receive flowers, but memorials may also be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry, 405 W. College Street, Troy, AL 36081. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Emerson family.
