James Rudolph Henderson, friend to all, stepped into heaven on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. A graveside service will be on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Mr. Henderson, a native of Pike County, attended Troy University and was a big fan of the Troy University Baseball team. He coached baseball at the Troy Recreation Center, and loved watching sports. He joined the US Navy as a teenager and traveled the world with them in his early years of service. He went on to work at Ft. Rucker as a contract flight inspector for 55 years until his retirement. He retired from the Navy and was a Mason and a Shriner. James loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church singing in the choir. He was recently singing a favorite hymn while working around the house. Once he retired, he enjoyed being outdoors and feeding the birds from his back patio. He was a friendly man who never met a stranger and loved his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Loving survivors include his wife of 56 years, Judy Henderson; children, Laura Johnson (Vince), Brandon Henderson (Rachael Evans); and grandchildren, Allison Johnson and Sam Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe & Nell Henderson; and his sister, Pauline Bell.
The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Henderson family.
