Although a lifetime member of the Troy/Goshen community, Pete Gibson called all corners of the Globe his home during his lifetime, due to time spent first in the army, and later traveling with his wife, Carolyn, as an educator and administrator with the International School System. He touched many lives through a multitude of roles throughout his life: farm boy, professional baseball player (Pittsburgh Pirates), soldier (Army), coach, educator, administrator, real-estate salesman, truck driver, psychometrist, counselor, chef, published author, ordained minister, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Although he held a very impressive, multifaceted résumé, according to Pete, his greatest accomplishment in life was his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Leo Gibson and Ethelyn Carter Gibson. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Smith Gibson; his daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Peter Lane; his son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Amy Gibson; his granddaughters, Amanda and Justin Luker, Rachel Mary Lane, and Julia Loren Lane; his grandsons, Jaryd Loren Gibson and Nicholas Frank Lane; and his great-granddaughters, Jaylyn Danielle Luker and Jaycee Grace Luker.
