Grady J. Post, age 86, a longtime resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021, following a brief illness. Due to COVID-19 complications, memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Post was born in Manchester, Georgia, and raised in Opelika, Alabama, where he graduated from Cliff High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Troy State Teachers College and master’s degree in education from Emory University. He returned to his college roots in Troy where he continued as a professor of history for 32 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed teaching and studying with the Wesley McCartha Sunday school class at the First United Methodist Church of Troy.
Mr. Post is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha Sneed Post; son, David Post (Marie); granddaughters, Yvonne Trosclair of Birmingham, AL, and Lauren Post on teaching assignment in Japan; great-grandson, Lucas Trosclair; brother, Wiley Post (Donna) of Boaz, AL; and niece, Ashley Cochran (John) of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Post; granddaughter, Zoe Post; and his parents, Henry Grady and Bonnie Harper Post.
