Glen-Dora Roling

Miss Glen-Dora Roling, age 75, of Buford, GA passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by parents, Glen Roling and Gladys Dora Ammons Roling, and brother, Jim Roling. Ms. Roling is survived by sister-in-law, Angie Roling of Troy, AL; niece, Angelyn Caylor Roling of Montgomery, AL; great niece, Rosa Skylar Roling of Montgomery, AL; first cousin, Rachel Bryan of Elba, AL; “sisters in love,” Sharon Carrington, Patricia Wilson, and Sandra Irwin all of Buford; and a host of friends. Ms. Roling was born on January 27, 1947 in Troy, AL. She graduated from Charles Henderson High School in Troy, received a Bachelor’s degree from Troy University and a Master’s degree from the University of Georgia.

Ms. Roling was a very involved participant and leader in education, community, and church activities. She was outstanding in her professional career which spanned 33 years. She taught first in Dekalb County at Shallowford Elementary School, then at Clifton Elementary School, but most of her thirty-three years were at Head Elementary School in Gwinnett County, where she received many accolades, one of which was Teacher of the Year. Glen-Dora was an active member of Gwinnett County Educators Association, Gwinnett County Retired Educators Association, and Alpha Delta Kappa.

Ms. Roling was also very active for more than thirty-five years at Westside Baptist Church in Snellville, GA where she sang in the choir, taught VBS, and held several benefits that helped church members as well as the community. Currently she was a member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church, Buford, GA. Glen-Dora was always on the hospitality committee wherever she lived, and she loved hosting events. She and her friend Sharon traveled extensively, mostly in the west and northwest, but also abroad. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at The Orchards Clubhouse on Ridge Rd in Buford. A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Green Hills Cemetery in Troy, AL.
