George Law Jr.

George Law, Jr., 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.   George was born to John Simeon Law and Birdie B Johnson-Law on November 12, 1930, at County Line, 15 miles south of Troy.

George grew up in and around Troy, graduating from Troy High.  He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 as a member of the 31st Infantry Division, a unit of the Dixie Division of the Army National Guard.  Upon completion of his military service, George returned home to meet Hazel Ann Mobley.  They married in 1953, had four children, and were married for 56 years until her death on June 19, 2009.

George Law was a printer by profession, from high school to retirement from Troy State University.  However, he proved to be a Jack-of-all-Trades, capable of constructing or repairing any machine or structure.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Ann Law, his sister, Margaret Whitehurst, and his brother, J.W. Law.   He is survived by his four children, G. Larry Law (Cindy), Elizabeth Ann Law, David Law (Melanie), and Wayne Law (Judy).  He is also survived by his sisters, Nell Daughtry (Pick), and Brenda Hamm (Jeff), five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Green Hills Funeral Home.  The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service.  Burial and military honors will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Green Hills Cemetery.
