Eunice Knotts Borland, 94, of Troy died Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at her home. Eunice was born to the late Cleveland Isaiah Knotts and Annie Parker Knotts in Troy, Alabama on October 8, 1929.
Eunice graduated from Goshen High School and then went to work for Dr. Bill Allen on North Three Notch Street in Troy. She ran that office for over 50 years before retiring in 2001. She loved visiting and working with people and handled all of the scheduling, assisted in examinations and frame selection, and did all of the bookkeeping and billing for the office.
She was a faithful member of Hephzibah Baptist Church for many years and served as substitute pianist. She later moved her membership to First Baptist Church of Troy and enjoyed attending weekly Sunday School classes and spending time with her classmates.
Her priorities in life were her daily walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, her partnership with her husband of 68 years (Joe), and taking care of him and her 2 sons. She expected and demanded (in a loving way) the very best of her children. She also encouraged other family member (nieces and nephews) to do their best in school and grow up to be men and women of character and faith.
She was an exceptional wife and mother, sacrificed her time and resources for her family, and taught us life lessons in hard work, honesty, and integrity. She was one of a kind and there won’t be another like her in this world.
Her survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Alfred Borland (Dianne) of Troy, Kenneth Harold Borland (Pat) of Auburn; a grandson, Andrew Chandler Borland of Troy and numerous nieces and nephews that she was very close to. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Harold Borland, Jr. and brothers Grover, Desmond, Clevonza, James and Gillis and sisters Robbie McLeod, Minnie Lassiter and Ann Grammer.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Knotts, James Howard McLeod, Jerry Knotts, Donnie Knotts, Jeff Knotts and Mike Knotts.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with the Reverend Greg Aman officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the caring professionals of COMPASSUS Hospice.
