Erma Helms

Erma Beaty Helms, age 85, of Louisville, Alabama, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Louisville Baptist Church with Reverends Tim Callaway, Robert Baker, and Rick Hayes officiating. Graveside services will follow at Louisville City Cemetery with Mike Hovey, Bill Hovey, Glenn Phillips, Jay Fenn, Jim Fenn, and Billy Williamson serving as pallbearers and Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Helms dedicated 25 years of her life as a 5th grade teacher at Louisville Elementary School, and 30 years as a Sunday school teacher at Louisville Baptist Church. She was a longtime instructor with the GA groups and a member of the WMU. She was a beloved educator, mentor, and spiritual influence throughout her community. Mrs. Helms broadened her own horizons while working traveling countrywide and abroad.

Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Julia Beaty. She is survived by her son, Ronald (Lynn) Helms of Troy; sisters, Jolene Clark of Daphne and Betty (Earl) Fain of Troy; granddaughter, Kristin Helms Baggett; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jack and Anslee; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their many thanks and appreciation to the staffs of Noble Manor and Troy Regional Medical Center, and caregivers, Mattie Blair and Gloria Walker for the attentive care shown to Mrs. Helms.
