Elmer Gene Fleming, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Daphne, Alabama. Visitation will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at St. John Baptist Church in Brundidge with a service at 12:00 noon. A private family burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A friendly face throughout the years, Elmer Fleming loved people and never met a stranger. He graduated from Pike County High School and went to work at Bob’s Feed in Brundidge; he also sold flowers on the side. He joined the Army National Guard and retired as a heavy equipment mechanic. He and his brother-in-law, Roy Medley, owned Discount Tire and Muffler in Troy for over 30 years. Elmer was artistic and enjoyed painting, landscaping, and being outdoors. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church and gave selflessly to the church, many individuals, groups, and ministries. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Loving survivors include his wife, Wanda Allen Fleming; children, Jennifer Coe (Patrick), Amy Free (Tanner), Sam Osborne (Brittany), and Russell Osborne (Katie); grandchildren, Emma Coe, Carlie Coe, Cooper Free, Coleman Free, Cameron Adams, Lola Money, Carter Smith, Jace Osborne, and Ethan Osborne; sisters, Lilla Medley (Roy) and Jessica Smith (Jerry); nephew, Josh Wilson (Jill); and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Shepherd’s Staff in Montgomery (P.O. Box 201203 Montgomery, AL 36120).
