Donald Jefferson Drinkard

Donald Jefferson Drinkard passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon, Friday, January 31, 2025, at Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Baggett, Cary Mauldin, and Dr. Mallone Chandler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Ricks, Jeff Knotts, Mike Knotts, Mark Knotts, Ray Kyzar, and Kris Rhodes. 

Donnie was born on October 16, 1942, to L.L. & Ina Beard Drinkard. He graduated from Goshen High School in 1961. He went to work for Troy Finance and then was hired on at Troy Motor Company where he had a lengthy career and met lifelong friends. Donnie loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Some of his favorites were drinking his Cokes, watching football and going out to dinner. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Donnie is survived by his beloved companion of 41 years, Pat Tatom; her daughter, Sherry Tatom; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Moore (Joey Herold); his brother, Boyd Drinkard (Pat); brother-in-law, Raymond Kyzar; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles Drinkard, Billy Drinkard, Robert Drinkard, Hugh Drinkard, Alvin Drinkard; sisters, Mary Claire Drinkard, Betty Knotts, Ammanette Kyzar; and Pat’s son, Earl Tatom. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Compassus Hospice for their care and concern during the past few months.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hopewell Cemetery Trust at Troy Bank & Trust.
