Donald Wilson (Don) DeRamus, age 75, a resident of Troy, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. DeRamus will be held at Green Hills Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Andrew Knick officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery in Troy, Alabama. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. DeRamus was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lucille DeRamus, his brother, James Bivin (Jimbo) DeRamus and a sister-in-law, Joan DeRamus. He is survived by his brothers, Dave DeRamus (Pat) of Bogart, Georgia, Robert DeRamus of Huntsville, Alabama, Billy Joe DeRamus (Linda) of Troy, Alabama; nephews, Len DeRamus (Marie) of Watkinsville, Georgia, Heath DeRamus of Troy, Alabama and Mike Bennett (Becky) of Huntsville; nieces, Angie Burnett (Greg) of Panama City Beach, Florida, Pam Edenfield (Kenny) of Troy, Alabama, Carissa Garner (Mike) of Pelham, Alabama, Brook Robison (Brett) of Birmingham, Alabama, Sharon Wade (Lane) of Alma, Georgia, Michelle Eades (David) of Bogart, Georgia, Sandy McCormick of Huntsville, Alabama and Ann Haltwanger (Terry) of Huntsville, Alabama and a long time companion, Sylvia Stacey of Montgomery, Alabama.
Mr. DeRamus was a member of Southside Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Army, worked almost 40 years and retired with the Alabama Highway Department (Dept. of Transportation) as Chief Bridge Inspector. He was a dedicated caregiver to the support and care of his younger brother, Jimbo and to his parents. He was a loving and caring brother who loved to be a part of his nephews and nieces lives.
Pallbearers will be Heath DeRamus, Kenny Edenfield, K.D. Edenfield, Mike Garner, Bret Robison, Greg Burnett, Len DeRamus and Lane Wade.
