Jon David Pinckard, age 74, of Wetumpka, Alabama, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Northcutt officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Pinckard served honorably and retired from the Army Reserve after 25 years, and he also dedicated 35 years of work to the Alabama Department of Transportation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a decorated all-around outdoorsman. He merited titles and awards as a high-power rifle shooter and sporting clays competitor, even earning the Distinguished Badge for Marksmanship.
Mr. Pinckard was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Grace Pinckard; son, Tony Pinckard; and brothers, James and Rex Pinckard. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Glenda Long Pinckard; son, Russ Pinckard (Heather); daughter-in-law, Rachel Pinckard; grandchildren, Drew, Ian, Sarah, and Aiden Pinckard; sister, Diane Pinckard; brothers-in law, Dennis Long (Lulene) and Bruce Long (Beth); sister-in-law, DiAnne Rhodes (Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews.
