David Dwayne Dean, beloved husband, father, Papa, and friend to all, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, after an extended illness. David served in the Army National Guard as a tank commander, retiring after 20 years of honorable service. He also worked at Lockheed Martin for 30 years, ending his career there as the supervisor of the JASSM program where he made a lasting impact on colleagues of all kinds. David is remembered by his family for his gentle spirit, unwavering faith in our Lord Jesus, unending generosity, and quick wit. David enjoyed riding horses with his wife, Stacey, taking adventures with his family, working his land on the tractor, and walking in the woods watching the wildlife. He was a quiet soul who loved fiercely and led his family with strength and humility. David was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his wife of 15 years, Stacey Penn Dean; his children, Mackenzi Stokes (Riley), Reed Johnson (Lillian); grandchildren, Annie James Johnson and Baby Stokes; siblings, Randy Dean (Judy), Donna Wise (Ken), Joey Dean (Marcy); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Faye Dean, and his brother, Rodney Dean.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Collegedale Church of Christ with Rev. Bobby Templin officiating. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will follow the service at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Reed Johnson, Riley Stokes, Larry Penn, Brandon Bell, Ryan Phillips, Vic DeBruyne, and Titus Griffin serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Jonathan Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Collegedale Christian Student Center. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dean family.
