Cornelia Ann Johns, beloved mother and “Gammy”, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Green Hills Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Darien Cemetery in Luverne, Alabama.
Mrs. Johns, a native of this area, grew up in Troy and was in the first graduating class of the renamed—Charles Henderson High School. She proudly raised three girls while attending nursing school at Troy State University, all while cooking, sewing, and taking care of her family. She graduated with her nursing degree in June of 1979, and was listed in Who’s Who of American College students. She was a hard worker, and an excellent mother, but being “Gammy” was her favorite role of all!! She loved her grandchildren and will be missed. Mrs. Johns was actively involved at First Baptist Church most of her life. She loved her family fiercely and will be missed by all.
Loving survivors include her daughters, Wanda Blevins (Joe), Becky Booker, Leann Boudin; step children, Jason Johns, Kristin Johns; grandchildren, Meagan Floyd (Jake), Tyler Blevins (Chelsea), Gage Floyd, Brett Blevins (Paisley), Quinten Boudin, Abbigail Boudin, Georgia Sykes, Addleynne Sykes; great grandchildren, Stone Shirah, Baker Blevins, Bennett Blevins, Ziggy Garove, Beau Blevins; siblings, Elmer “Sandy” Owens, Frances Waddell, Joanne Owens, William Owens; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy “Tab” Johns; her parents, Joseph & Annie Lee Owens; and her brother, Joseph “JoJo” Owens.
