Christine Clifton

Christine Chandler Clifton, “Nanny”, 80, completed her earthly journey and entered heaven, her eternal home, Wednesday, August 2, 2017.

Mrs. Clifton was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Robert Clifton; parents, Odie and Ella Chandler; sisters, Annie Ruth Ashworth and Ruby Dean Davidson; and her brother Wendell Lane Chandler.

She is survived by her children:  Gary Clifton, Grady; Elaine (Nolan) Dicks, Pine Level; Debbie Croy, Grady; Dell (Tracy) Clifton, Goshen; grandchildren: Christy (Cody) Weihe, Montgomery; Hannah (Jerry) Hamilton, Montgomery; Mallory Clifton, Goshen; her dog, Little Aubie; her sisters:  Joyce Esterer and Patsy Steward, Montgomery; and her special sister-in-law, Hattie Clifton, Grady.

Nanny loved and faithfully served her family, friends, animals, plants but most of all her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She accepted the most precious gift of eternal life at the age of 14; she knew and would tell you that no one could steal Him away from her.

She expressed her love not just in words but always in deed; you never left her home hungry and always with the feeling of being loved.  Her favorite day of the week was Sunday not only because it was the day of corporate worship but she knew her Children, Grandchildren and her “Little Aubie” would all meet around the supper table.

Our Nanny will be missed beyond words but she will always live in our precious memories that are tucked deeply in our hearts. Our family is so thankful she is forever free of all her pain and one day soon and very soon, Nanny, we will all meet again around “The Supper Table”.

Yes, Nanny, Jesus loves you this I know “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.  There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”  Revelation 4:12

Serving as pallbearers will be Marty Clifton, Paul Dicks, Rickey Ferguson, Josh Hardt, Ronny Little, and Matt Tucker, honorary Pallbearers will be, Walter Daniel, Nolan Dicks, Jerry Hamilton, Scott Talkington, and Cody Weihe.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Pine Level Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bob Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Green Hills Funeral Home.  The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Clifton family.
