Charlotte Cooper Naiden Wood, age 86, died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Wood was born in Monroe, Louisiana, and moved to Troy in 1947 when she married James P. Wood, III. “Miss Charlotte” spent her entire life taking care of her family and friends, and she was never happier than when she was surrounded by children and dogs in her beautiful yard. She is preceded in death by her husband, James, and her parents, William W. Cooper and Satchie S. Naiden. She is survived by her sister, Satchie Cooper Naiden Dolan; children, Charlotte Bent (Jim), Patricia Barnes (George), Lesa Wood, Allan Wood (Kendra), Laurie Pattee; 10 grandchildren: Charlotte Willcox (Charles), Allan Jenkins, Elisabeth Yawn, Chrissie Duffy (Kevin), Robert Yawn, Jr. (Andrea),Naiden Wood, Evans Barnes, Alex Barnes, Baylor Wood, Mary Kate Pattee; eight great-grandchildren: Emily Nissley, Clay Willcox, Charlie Willcox, Thomas Duffy, Anna Duffy, Mary Margaret Duffy, Cooper Duffy, Lillian Wood; and beloved friends, Diane and Tyrone Smith and Debra Johnson. A private graveside service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Cindy Howard officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Pike Animal Shelter in Troy, PMB #171, 1305A South Brundidge, St., Troy, AL 36081.
