Colonel Charles Eli Perkins, resident of Prattville, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the age of 84. Funeral services will be at 10:30am on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Weed officiating.
Charles was born and raised in Tyronza, Arkansas, and went on to graduate from Arkansas State University with a bachelor’s degree. He married Deloris (Flowers) in 1971, and together they traveled all over the world. As a proud member of the US Army, they lived in Alabama, Germany, Maryland, Hawaii, Virginia, Georgia, and then found their way back to Alabama. After 29 years of honorable service, Colonel Perkins retired with several awards such as the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the Legion of Merit, as well as serving in the Vietnam War. Though not a man of many hobbies, he was an avid reader. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his sons, Charles Rowell (Julie) of Prattville, Alabama and John C. Perkins of Las Vegas, Nevada; granddaughters, Ansley Elizabeth Rowell of Chicago, Illinois and Anna Elizabeth Rowell of Prattville, Alabama; brothers, Donald Perkins (Ruthie) of Rogers, Arkansas, Thomas Perkins of Bradenton, Florida; and nieces, Kristen West (Phil), Daphne Malone (William) and Ashley Turner (John); nephews, Michael Perkins (Jan) and Tom Perkins (Meara).
He was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Evelyn Perkins and his wife of 49 years, Deloris.
