Catherine Rountree

Catherine Simpson Rountree, age 84, a lifelong resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020. A family graveside service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Locklar officiating.

Mrs. Rountree, more affectionately known as “MawMaw,” lived for the joy of spending time with her grandchildren. It’s safe to say her children and grandchildren were her greatest blessings. When she wasn’t spoiling grandbabies, she found delight beside any fishing hole, with any pole, catching all the fish that would bite. Mrs. Rountree is survived by her sons, Michael Rountree (Janice), David Rountree (Karen), Jesse Rountree (Rena), and Adam Rountree (Tess); grandchildren, Brandon Rountree (Kimberly), Timothy Rountree (Ashley), Elizabeth Rountree, Joey Folmar (Tollie), and Catie Edwards (Drew); great-grandchildren, Emma-Kate Rountree, Adam Tate Rountree, William “Will” Scott, Elloyotte “Elly” Rountree, Madyson “Mady” Rountree, and Olivia “Livy” Rountree; son-in-law, Michael Folmar; brother, Merle “Buck” Simpson (Betty Jo); sisters, Bonnie Faye Dove, Mary Sexton, and Brenda Dumas (Fred); numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Betty Casey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, W.J. Rountree; daughter, Barbara Ann Folmar; grandson, Blake Rountree; and parents, I.B. and Mamie Marie Simpson.
