Betty Pless Johnson, age 83, a longtime resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at Troy Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Ernest Green officiating. Brian Lassiter, Larry Green, Lewis Howard, John Hogan, Christopher Simmonds, and Russell Bundy will serve as pallbearers. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Green Hills Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lucille Warren Pless; her husband of 63 years, Charles Johnson, Sr.; one brother and two sisters. She is survived by her son, Charles E. “Chuck” (Melissa) Johnson; grandsons, Charles Joseph Johnson, Michael Paul (Alisha) Johnson, and Mathew Scott (Jamie) Johnson; step-grandsons, Jacob (Lauren) Ballard, and Daniel Ballard; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their many thanks and deep appreciation to the staff of Compassus Hospice and Wanda Fleming, Dr. Rick Gill, and the Troy Regional Medical Center ICU staff for their tremendous care and support of Mrs. Johnson and her family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to the Pike Animal Shelter (904 Henderson Highway Troy, Alabama 36079).
