Betty R. Haisten, age 80, of Troy, Alabama, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ms. Haisten was best known for her love for cooking, and perhaps most remembered for her “famous” pound cake. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and caring for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ms. Haisten was preceded in death by her parents, Grover McDonald Rushing and Susie Emma Knighten; one brother, Olan Rushing; and one great-grandson, John Benjamin Pomeroy II. She is survived by her son, Tommy Haisten (Beth); daughter, Lori Renfroe (Ed); four siblings, Sue Pyron, Larry Rushing, Billy Rushing, and John Rushing; three grandchildren, Shelly Pomeroy, Trey Haisten, and Colee Haisten; one great-granddaughter, Graylin Pomeroy; and numerous family members.
