Ben Cardwell

Allen “Ben” Cardwell, age 87, a longtime resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Powell officiating. A private family graveside will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Cardwell was an avid cattleman and horseman, meriting honors as a world champion walking horse trainer and showman, and exercising active and passionate memberships with the American Brahman Breeders Association and Alabama Cattlemen’s Association. He was preceded in death by his parents E.A. and Nettie Cardwell, and daughter, Linda Cardwell. He is survived by his daughters, Kerry (Lamar) Waters of Enterprise, Janie Pitts of Mobile, Patty Gail (Steve) Baker of Mobile, Patricia (Jon) Bjorgan of Atlanta, and Judy Cardwell Moore of Troy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
